seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Research
Scientist specializing in microbiology, with an emphasis on
bacterial culturing. The ideal candidate will have an advanced
degree in biological sciences, a minimum of 10 years of lab
experience (including experience within industry), experience in a
startup R&D environment, and extensive experience with
bacterial culturing and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). This
role will involve leading advanced research projects related to
microbial behavior, growth optimization, and bacterial culture
techniques. This position requires a self-starter with meticulous
attention to detail and the ability to work independently in the
lab five days a week.Key Responsibilities:Laboratory
Operations:
- Conduct specialized laboratory procedures and experiments
utilizing problem-solving skills to modify when needed.
- Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring all
instruments are calibrated and functioning properly.
- Lead creation of protocols and procedures.Data Collection and
Analysis:
- Lead and design research projects focused on bacterial
culturing, including isolation, identification, and
characterization of bacterial strains.
- Develop, optimize, and scale up bacterial culture methods to
assist in advancing our technology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate findings
into broader research initiatives.
- Ensure the maintenance of high-quality culture collections and
databases of bacterial strains.
- Analyze experimental data, prepare technical reports, and
present findings to internal and external stakeholders.Sample
Management:
- Prepare, store, and dispose of laboratory samples in accordance
with safety and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain an organized inventory of laboratory supplies, placing
orders as needed.
- Ensure all samples are properly labeled and stored for easy
retrieval and analysis.Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and guidelines,
ensuring a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and institutional
requirements.Qualifications:Education: Advanced degree in
biological sciences.Experience: 10 years of work experience in a
laboratory setting. Experience should include industry experience
in addition to academic experience. Experience in a startup R&D
lab is a must.Technical Skills: Experience with bacterial culturing
and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is a must.Attention to
Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in all
tasks.Self-Starter: Ability to work independently as well as part
of a team. Ability to take initiative in the lab utilizing
problem-solving skills.Communication Skills: Strong written and
verbal communication skills.Time Management: Excellent
