DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, you will deliver expert geological knowledge and assistance to the Mine Fire, Permitting, and Professional Services Section of the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation's Division of Project Development and Design. Furthermore, you will autonomously conduct investigations, evaluations, planning, development, and permitting related to various abandoned mine land issues and reclamation efforts. Your projects will encompass a range of activities, including mine fire investigations, surface mine reclamation, control of mine subsidence, closure of mine openings, remediation of abandoned mine drainage, and replacement of waterlines and water supply. You will be actively engaged in multiple projects simultaneously.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $ 67,678.00 (before taxes).

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
    QUALIFICATIONS
    Special Requirements:This position requires possession of an active license as a professional geologist issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
    Other Requirements:
    • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.You must be able to perform essential job functions.
