Job Summary:
As an MRI Technologist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a
critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services
to our patients. Under the supervision of the Radiology Supervisor,
you will perform a variety of MRI procedures and departmental
support functions. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the
accuracy and quality of our imaging services.Key
Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI examinations of the brain, body, spine, and
extremities on patients of all ages, adjusting scanning parameters
for different patient body habitus.
- Select and modify technical factors to enhance images, using
flare and SAT imaging techniques.
- Determine appropriate equipment for scanning, including body
coils.
- Identify gross pathology in the human body and adjust T1 and T2
scanning parameters to provide pertinent information for
interpretation.
- Effectively perform Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms,
reformats, and MIP imaging.
- Use magnetic resonance and adjust parameters to minimize
exposure to patients and yourself, following established protocols
and scanning techniques.
- Photograph, archive, and retrieve images.
- Be certified to start and remove IV lines for contrast studies,
identifying and responding to IV contrast reactions.
- Perform comprehensive screening of patients and other
individuals before allowing them to enter the MR system room.
- Explain the dangers associated with implants and devices,
including pacemakers and loose objects, to anyone entering the MR
system room.
- Review each examination for technical accuracy, present
completed examinations to radiologists, and communicate pertinent
data to persons responsible for patient care.
- Maintain daily patient MRI logs, documenting patient
information accurately to ensure quality patient care.
- Demonstrate ability to organize patient care and set
priorities, providing critical care first and implementing
physician orders.
- Perform proper computer skills, showing working knowledge of
patient orders, status changes, patient charges, and
profiles.Requirements:
- Minimum one year of experience as an MRI technologist, or
registry eligible ARRT advanced certification in MRI required.
- Graduate of an accredited radiology technology program or MRI
Accredited Certificate Program required.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate -
Magnetic Resonance Imaging within 12 months of hire required.
- Basic Life Support certification required.
- Venipuncture competency check-off required within 3 months of
hire.
- Ability to stand, push, pull, and lift patients required.
- Must be able to adjust routine to accommodate patient or
department without affecting departmental flow.
- May be required to lift objects heavier than 50 pounds, perform
difficult manipulative skills, and hand-eye coordination
skills.
- Position requires ability to concentrate on fine detail with
constant interruption and attend to tasks for 20 to 45 minutes at a
time.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of customer-focused service requirements of the
organization required.
- Ability to communicate pleasantly and effectively with members
and coworkers required.
- Proficiency in applicable computer software required.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership
environment.Work Environment:
