Job Description:

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. The ideal candidate will have experience operating mammographic equipment and taking x-ray exposures of patients.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Greets patients and explains the mammographic procedure to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience.
  • Reviews patients' medical history and confirms that they have signed a contrast media consent form if necessary.
  • Takes x-ray exposures of patients following the protocol for intensity of radiation and time of exposure.
  • Processes film and inspects images to confirm that they meet the requirements of the radiologist.
  • Maintains equipment and examination rooms, stores film, and keeps inventory of related supplies.
  • Prepares patient files showing information such as patients' names, dates of x-ray, referring physicians, and number of exposures.
  • Prepares and submits reports as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.Basic Qualifications:
    • Minimum one year of experience as a Mammography Technologist, including on-the-job training and internships, or registry-eligible ARRT advanced certification in Mammography (must be obtained within six months of hire) with a minimum of one year of recent experience as a Radiological technologist with ARRT.
    • Per the National Agreement, current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.Education:
      • Specialized training in mammographic technology is required.License, Certification, Registration:
        • Radiologic Technologist Certification
        • Basic Life Support
        • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography TechnologistAdditional Requirements:
          • To work effectively with patients, the ideal candidate must have effective interpersonal and communication skills and be able to stand, walk, bend, hear, speak, and see.
          • Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software.Preferred Qualifications:
            • Certification as a mammographic technologist with the ARRT is preferred.
            • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) education is preferred.
