Director of Education, Events, and Membership Summary of
Position : The North American Securities Administrators Association
(NASAA), a prominent Washington, D.C., association devoted to
supporting the work of state and provincial securities regulators,
is seeking to hire a Director of Education, Events, and Membership.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Education,
Events, and Membership serves as a member of the senior management
team helping to advance NASAA's investor protection mission. The
Director of Education, Events, and Membership (Director) provides
strategic vision and leadership in 1) executing NASAA's
enterprise-wide learning strategy and assessing the efficacy of the
strategy in delivering a cohesive learning experience; 2) planning
NASAA events including conferences and meetings; 3) administering
NASAA's volunteer program; and 4) managing the technology used to
support these functions. The Director is responsible for leading a
team of professionals with significant experience in each of these
core areas. Currently, the team consists of the Deputy Director of
Education, Events, and Membership, the Associate Director of
Education and Instructional Design, and the Events and Membership
Manager. The Director works closely with NASAA's leadership and
various committees and project groups in providing professional
development and skills training for NASAA's members. This includes
both online learning and in-person/hybrid training programs. NASAA
conducts 8-9 training programs for its members each year. The
content for training programs is generally developed by committees
and project groups made up of NASAA members. The Director is also
responsible for coordinating with NASAA members and staff to
deliver high-quality conferences. NASAA holds two conferences per
year with one conference held in Washington, D.C., and the other
located in a NASAA member jurisdiction. The Director is also
responsible for administering NASAA's volunteer program. This work
involves supporting the annual and ongoing application process by
which NASAA solicits interest amongst its members for service on
one or more committees and project groups. Responsibilities:
- Manage all operational details of the Education, Events, and
Membership Department, adhering to NASAA's policies and operating
budget.
- Work with stakeholder committees and project groups to
implement high quality education and training programs to promote
and enhance education for NASAA members.
- In consultation with the Professional Development Committee,
manage the implementation of NASAA's enterprise-wide learning
strategy.
- Oversight of the structure and content of NASAA's Learning
Management System, (Elevate), including the curation of course
offerings and the implementation of new technologies designed to
enhance the user experience.
- Collaborate with stakeholder committees and senior management
to provide strategic direction and ongoing innovation, consistent
with NASAA's objectives.
- Oversight of NASAA's Association Management System (iMIS).
- Develop recommendations for the implementation of new
technologies, if needed, to replace or enhance NASAA's Learning
Management System and Association Management System.
- Collaborate with conference chairs and NASAA staff to develop
and execute NASAA's conferences inclusive of identification of
topics, recruitment of speakers, and management of program
content.
- Actively engage and manage strong working relationships with
NASAA Members, industry, and others to encourage participation in
NASAA training programs and conferences.
- Administer NASAA's Volunteer Program to include the annual and
periodic collection of applications for committee and project group
assignments and working with committee and project group leadership
and the Board to compile rosters.
- Oversight of technology and other vendors that provide
technical assistance at training programs and conferences.
- Other responsibilities as assigned. Additional Details:
- Salary range $175,000 to $200,000 annually.

- NASAA maintains a hybrid working schedule where eligible staff
are permitted to work remotely up to 3 days per week. As part of
the onboarding process, new employees are required to work on site
at the Washington, D.C. headquarters for the first 5 days of their
employment, 3 days per week for the following three weeks, and then
2 days per week pending successful completion of the onboarding
process.
- Travel required approximately 30% of the time including
occasional weekends. This job description should not be construed

Skills, and Experience Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree is required. Advanced degree or
certification in adult learning is preferred.
- A minimum of ten (10) years' experience in managing educational
programs and conferences, preferably with associations or similar
membership organizations.
- At least ten (10) years of experience working with Learning
Management Systems, preferably the Elevate Learning Management
System.
- Proven ability to guide the strategic direction of educational
programs, training programs, conferences, and related
initiatives.
- Proficiency with the iMIS database or another AMS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel,
Word, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools, such as Articulate
Storyline.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in managing teams and vendors to meet strategic
objectives.
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively with a wide variety
of stakeholders.
