Associated, Jewish Federation of Baltimore seeks a dynamic,
experienced, articulate, and creative Chief Development Officer to
guide and elevate all aspects of financial resource development
across the premier fundraising organization. The Chief Development
Officer will lead a diverse and experienced development team in
raising funds for its Annual Campaign, targeted strategic
philanthropy projects, and capital initiatives. The position will
also offer guidance to The Associated's robust donor-advised fund
and foundation programs. Overview of The Associated The Associated
is recognized as one of the top giving Jewish communities in North
America and a national leader within the Federation system. The
Associated's Annual Campaign is the foundation of the
organization's philanthropic efforts and remains the primary
fundraising vehicle for all of the organization's agencies and
programs. In 2022, the Annual Campaign raised approximately $30
million. The Associated is also nearing the completion of an
unprecedented $200 million Centennial Campaign, charting the course
for the next 100 years. The Associated maintains a diverse real
estate portfolio and a robust endowment and investment program with
nearly $1 billion in assets. With a staff of over 100 FTEs and an
operating budget of over $50 million, The Associated has stayed
true to its promise of serving the Baltimore community with
urgency, compassion, and a commitment to Jewish values. The Chief
Development Officer Position The Chief Development Officer (CDO)
will work in concert with both lay and professional senior
leadership to determine fundraising goals based on agency-wide and
communal priorities. The CDO will lead the design and
implementation of strategies to identify funding sources needed to
finance the growth and development of The Associated system. This
position provides oversight and support on all fundraising efforts
including the Annual Campaign, Targeted Gifts, Legacy and Endowment
Gifts and the Centennial Campaign. Core Responsibilities:
- Foster a culture of philanthropy across the agency and system,
ensuring a coordinated approach. Represent and support The
Associated's best interests regarding fund development.
- Manage senior development professionals and ensure that the
development operations function efficiently and oversee all
development activities in coordination with staff.
- Establish performance measures, monitor results, and evaluate
the efficacy of our efforts.
- Help to recruit, train, and motivate lay leadership and
solicitors.
- Lead the team in developing a fundraising plan that allows for
new donor development, increased annual support, stewardship of
donors and the securing of long-term commitments.
- Successfully engage a board of lay leaders to develop and
implement strategic goals. Resource Development and Generation
- Inspire donors and philanthropists by the mission of The
Associated network of agencies and motivate them to support the
organization's mission.
- Engage and steward donors of all levels to participate in The
Associated's Annual Campaign of $30 million and ensure its
sustainability and growth.
- Oversee supplemental and emergency campaigns as
appropriate.
- Conduct face to face solicitation with donors to develop and
cultivate relationships and sustained giving. & Skills The ideal
candidate will offer the following qualifications:
- An exceptional major gift fundraiser with a proven track-record
of securing 6-7 figure gifts from a diverse portfolio with existing
and new major donors.
- An engaging and inspiring leader who has a personal commitment
to Jewish values, Jewish community, Jewish continuity, Israel and
global Jewry.
- An inclusive and collaborative leader with extensive Jewish
communal knowledge who can successfully interface with multiple
demographics within and outside of the community.
- An excellent oral and written communicator able to tailor
messaging to appropriate stakeholders and demographics.
- A team builder who motivates others to perform at a high level
to reach their goals.
- An experienced professional with superior organizational
management skills. : Compensation Salary Range: Starting range
begins at $225,000 annually. Experience will impact final
